This is a new, 12-story, mixed-use building, part of the new Harper Court development at the University of Chicago. CCJM’s scope for this project first included permit review services for the core and shell design, as part of the City of Chicago’s Developer Services Building Permit program. CCJM provided additional MEP/FP and LEED-certified engineering design services for the interior construction. Consisting of nine floors, approximately 150,000 square feet of space, this area is to be used by the University of Chicago’s Facility Services Department.
The HVAC system utilizes base building rooftop units, cooling towers, and boilers. Each floor has a medium pressure air loop system for the project to tap “off, on” each floor air distribution. A fan-powered box with a hot water reheat coil is provided to the perimeter of each floor and a variable air volume box for interior spaces.
Project Cost: $10,471,000
